How To Run for an Executive Board Office

Executive Board elections are held each spring semester.  Check back then for details.

Senators

The Senate serves as the official representation of all students and is the outlet for individuals to let their voices be heard. Each college at MTSU is represented by Senators with majors in a certain college.

There are specific requirements of eligibility for anyone wanting to run for an Executive Board position.  The SGA Constitution outlines these requirements in Article V beginning on page 8.  Additional information regarding the process of running for a position can be found in the Electoral Act.

Senators are students who represent the college of their major and make up the legislative branch of the SGA.  This is an elected position, voted on by the students of each college.

Senators meet regularly to present and vote on bills (procedures that affect the internal operation of the SGA) and resolutions (those things that affect the campus as a whole).

Senate elections are held each spring semester. However, if all Senate seats are not filled during this election period, you can apply to be considered for an open Senate seat.

Student Trustee

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of MTSU and is responsible for appointing the president, setting the operating budget, establishing tuition and fee rates among other responsibilities.  The Student Trustee is a non-voting member of the Board and serves a one-year term. Application information will be available during the spring semester.
